Production Optimization in Plastic Packaging Plant: Lean Manufacturing Operational Excellence Model

This proposal focuses on the implementation of the operational excellence management model based on Lean Manufacturing in a plastic packaging manufacturing plant to improve the efficiency and quality of the production processes. The model contributes positively to the challenges faced by the company under study, through the implementation of key indicators, training that adds value to the operation, and implementation of Lean tools and principles. In addition, the model presents impacts on overall plant efficiency, including significant reductions in mold changeovers, reduced waiting times, order and cleanliness at workstations, and improved product quality. The economic results impacted by the model were around $100,000 after six months, contributing directly to the company's financial status. Finally, it is concluded that this implementation proposal based on an operational excellence management model contributes significantly to the efficiency and quality of production processes and that the methodology described can be replicated in other companies in the plastic packaging manufacturing sector to obtain similar benefits.
