Abstract

The present research aimed to analyze the academic training process in the dialogue between reason and faith for university students, based on four subjects in the curriculum, to determine the impact these subjects have on their graduation profile. The objective was to distinguish the process of dialogue between reason and faith in the training of university students; for this purpose, quantitative research was used. The study relied on participant observation, anecdotal records, and surveys as techniques specific to this research. Initially, the context of academic training in the dialogue between reason and faith for students and the methodology used by the subjects in the Reason and Faith area were analyzed. Secondly, the results of the surveys administered to 2,117 students who took these subjects were analyzed. Thirdly, a discussion was initiated on the results and new findings. Among the main conclusions found was the appreciation of several significant subjects: Ethics, Philosophical-Theological Anthropology, Life and Transcendence, and Social Thought of the Church, which contribute to the development of critical thinking and values. Likewise, the use of preventive methodologies in the process of human-Christian formation was emphasized; the considerable training of teachers with fourth-level PhDs in these subjects was highlighted, and a significant impact on the new professionals as good Christians and honorable citizens was evident.
