Abstract
This study aimed to identify the prevalence of self-perceived musculoskeletal discomfort in the university students of Guayaquil during last year (May 2016 to May 2017), and to identify possible risk factors. The Kuorinka Nordic Questionnaire was applied to a sample of 628 students who used nine classroom furniture models used in five universities in the city. They presented a high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders symptoms in the neck, back, hips and thighs. It was demonstrated that there is a relationship of dependence between these symptoms and the model of school furniture used by these students in their academic activities.
