Abstract

The main objective of this study was to disseminate the religious poetry written by Father Teófilo Gaivao Mier during the different stages of his life and how these were vehicles of social communication between God and his people. Through the poems: Message of Peace, Children's Christmas, Sacred Decimas and Gozos a la Virgen de Montserrat, the aim was to express the historical, theological and motivational events that stood out while the priest expressed them in his poetic lines. Based on the methodological design, this article responded to the research line of the Social Communication career of the Salesian Polytechnic University: Communication, culture and interculturality, theoretical studies and practical experiences. The study on the religious poetry of Father Teófilo Gaivao Mier as a vehicle of social communication was undertaken from the qualitative paradigm, since the research was oriented to deepen in the problem, but at the same time the poems of the artist were investigated. The selected sample consisted of 68 lay people and consecrated life of the Catholic Church. The survey was used as a quantitative method to determine why people do not know about religious poetry. The scope of this research study is exploratory. As a conclusion, it was proposed to the respondents to read religious poetry and 90% responded affirmatively that they were interested in reading it. Therefore, the reason why it is not read is because it is not disseminated. At present there are people eager to know it and discover the poetry with vallenato musicalization of Father Teófilo Gaivao.
