Abstract
Lies deliberately reproduced in social networks have the central function of communication and not the expression of thought; this as part of political strategies of groups in power, which seek to destabilize citizens and also seek to underestimate the audience through erroneous and malicious content. The semantic, rhetorical and situational analysis of 53 news items that circulated on FaceBook, Twitter and WhatsApp during the 11 days of the National Strike in Ecuador, allowed to show that the language received by society went through the represenative, expressive and appellative function, the latter, regality from emotionality, which showed the hostile character that arose between social groups.
