Abstract
Nonlinear analysis is a fundamental part ofof the structural design, due to the behavior that the structureswill have beyond the elastic range. In the present investigation, carried out the analysis of nine three-dimensional steel buildings, between four and twelve levels, with special framesmoment resistant SMF with RBS connections, the analysis was runand design for three-dimensional structures in structural software. Subsequently, the nonlinear static analysis was performed for the framesSMF, using OpenSees software and CEINCI-LAB routinesprogrammed in Matlab, they provide the researcher with an approachalternative to commercial computer packages. They were obtainedthe capacity curves, and it was shown that all the framescollapsed at an average of 4.05% displacement ratioceiling with respect to the total height of the building (Dt/HT). On the other hand, itobtained the performance point by the spectrum method ofcapacity and structural performance was evaluated. Additionally, itverified the versatility of the OpenSees program at the time ofconverge, the computational time is considerably less thancommercial computer packages, allowing with greaterease the change of mathematical models, materials, conditionsof the model and request for additional results, if required by theUsername.
