Abstract
This text gathers an analysis of the quality of life, good living and complexity of the Afro-Ecuadorian brothers and sisters of the Nigeria neighborhood, located in the city of Guayaquil. It also shows the progress that these people have achieved through work and sacrifice in search of the construction of their own good life. The study details those complex features that constitute the Afro-Ecuadorian migrant brother who left his native province (Esmeraldas), in search of better days, above all, to achieve the so-called growth proposed from a westernized vision. An analysis of the various subsystems (education, health, culture, political representation, etc.) that make up this social system called barrio Nigeria is proposed. It also reflects the cultural richness of the Afro people, the struggle for its preservation, the identity that confronts the paradigm of westernization. On the other hand, as two sides of the same coin, it reflects the dangers that exist in a society where poverty and misery result in violence and drug use. Finally, in the narrative of the text, the intervention made by different institutions and people who have contributed to the development of this city is evidenced.
