Abstract

Mobility in Cuenca - Ecuador is a priority issue on the agenda of the public administration; in recent years, a holistic approach to public transportation has been adopted that integrates different modes of transportation and considers the environmental impact and the particular conditions of the city listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This paper presents the modeling in Matlab-Simulink environment of the new transport system called "Cuatro Rios" Tramway. The proposed model takes into account the technical characteristics, power supply, direct current transmission and traction systems of the vehicle. The results can be used to measure the energy consumption and the overall impact of this system on the city's sub-transmission networks.
