Modalidades de Formación en la Carrera de Educación Intercultural Bilingüe de la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana del Ecuador

This article offers a self-critical examination of the teaching process within the Intercultural Bilingual Education (EIB) program at the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS) in Ecuador. It will demonstrate what has been gained and what has been lost with regard to teacher training processes in the EIB program, based on an analysis of changes in the training format: from a distance learning program to an online program. To gather information, surveys were designed and shared with current faculty members of the program, who have experienced the transition between the aforementioned formats, in addition to conversations with faculty members who possess the experience and memory of the historical process of the program’s creation. This paper presents an overview of the changes in the EIB program’s delivery model to help identify the strengths gained, the lingering limitations, and to pinpoint current and future challenges.
