Abstract
This paper is a study of a piped water supply project in a rural community of Quichua farmers in the northern highlands of Ecuador. The field research was carried out in July and August 1992, but the data collected through formal and informal interviews with the beneficiaries and with members of the Ecuadorian organization implementing the project were also collected during a previous stay, in the winter of 1991.
