Abstract

Gamification has proven to be an effective educational method, making learning more dynamic and engaging. In this context, Minecraft, a popular construction game, has emerged as an innovative tool in education. This paper presents the development of a Minecraft server designed to teach Boolean algebra, a fundamental topic in mathematical logic and computational sciences. A server was set up on the Aternos platform, integrating plugins such as AlonsoLeaderboards to motivate students through interactive and competitive activities. Computing students from Universidad Politécnica Salesiana participated in activities aimed at teaching the basics of Boolean algebra, including the construction and manipulation of logic gates and circuits. The environment encouraged students to work together to solve problems and share knowledge, fostering both learning and friendly competition. The server offered flexibility by adapting activities to various skill levels and learning paces. Surveys, both qualitative and quantitative, revealed highly positive preliminary results, with strong student participation and enthusiasm. Feedback highlighted the server's ease of use and the effectiveness of the activities in facilitating the understanding of Boolean algebra.
