Abstract

This book shares the experience of the Casa Campesina Cayambe Microcredit Program, developed in 95 indigenous communities in the cantons of Cayambe and Pedro Moncayo. In addition to the Program's praxis, the book highlights the social action and human development generated around this process by the Salesian Project Casa Campesina Cayambe and the support of the Spanish NGO Ayuda en Acción. The process of organized participation of the population, as a co-responsible actor in the management, has been and is undoubtedly the basis for the development of the microcredit program, accompanied by principles and values such as solidarity, honesty and transparency. These values have strengthened and opened opportunities in a sustained manner, in several productive initiatives of the participating communities. The implementation of the Microcredit Program proposal, as a dynamic center for the growth of the peasant economy, is a visible experience of a responsible credit management from the community organization, one hundred percent at the service of the people and not of the capital.
