Abstract

In recent years, alternative media offer a wide possibility of producing content for different targets, in this sense the main objective of this research is to treat and analyze from a critical perspective the issue of sexual diversity in the media “Under the same sun”. The research focuses on the content analysis of 20 episodes that were broadcast during the fourteenth season in the intercultural and community media, in order to investigate the visions about gender, sex and sexual orientation in the indigenous peoples and nationalities of the Ecuador, as well as compliance with the Organic Law of Communication. The methodology that applied is mixed, the same one that is executed through the quantitative analysis of the contents that are covered in the program and qualitative in the analysis of the discourse. This process led to questioning and reflecting on the function, treatment and dissemination of content in this medium of communication.
