Abstract

In today's world, mental health is a priority, even more so in university residence halls, spaces of great wealth due to the complexity that arises when hosting mobile students from diverse cultures, ways of life, ways of thinking, beliefs, and rituals. This text shares experiences exploring the reality of the Don Bosco University Residence from the individual, group, family, and organizational dimensions, considering mental health as the guiding thread of this process. Through participatory action research, the authors highlight unique challenges of this reality, which key stakeholders at the residence hall experience in their daily lives, and offer reflections on psychological well-being as a transcendental factor for students to successfully complete their academic training. This work uncovers a world of possibilities for building a multicultural education model with a systemic vision, as the reality of the residence hall not only responds to the students who live there but also to the expectations of their families and communities. The residency unites multiple dreams, aspirations, realities, as well as problems and challenges, requiring the residence to manage changes and respond to the contingencies of the current context.
