Abstract
The present work focuses on updating the Institutional Risk Reduc-tion Plan (PIRR) for an educational institution. This process invol-ves adding, replacing, or eliminating certain pre-established para-meters to create safer spaces within the institution. This research arises from the fact that the last PIRR of the institution was designed on November 12, 2021, addressing other risks to which the educa-tional community was exposed at that time. The work is aimed at the teaching staff, students, and administrative personnel of the upper basic education and high school sections of an institution in the city of Quito. This research is justified from three perspectives. First, at the level of future educators, it allows the acquisition of skills related to actions before, during, and after an incident, with the aim of achie-ving a safe environment. Second, at the level of the educational community, institutions are obligated to educate their members on risk prevention through activities addressing this topic. Third, at the societal level, it is justified as it helps safeguard the integrity of all members of the institution by enhancing preventive culture in res-ponse to the increase in catastrophes. The research begins with the question: Will updating the PIRR help improve the comprehensive safety of the educational community? From this question arises the objective of ensuring the safety of individuals against potential risks by updating the PIRR, success-fully fulfilling risk management, safety, and self-care plans intended to be achieved within the set timeframe. Similarly, the theoretical foundation is based on literature reviews covering topics such as risk prevention, safety measures, and risk management. The institution is located in the northern part of Quito. The sample population consists of teachers from the upper basic education and high school levels.
