Abstract
Historically, the philosophy of education has been considered the branch of philosophy that examines the principles and foundations of educational management from a theoretical and practical perspective. In this sense, the philosophy of education constitutes a horizon of pedagogical reflection for understanding the values, ideas, and objectives involved in institutionalized formal education. For this reason, this chapter analyzes the foundations of the philosophy of education and its relationship to teaching practice, highlighting current theoretical trends that address the development of free, critical, and autonomous individuals.
