Abstract
The Nueva Coronica y Buen Gobierno by Felipe Guamán Poma de Ayala is well known for its narrative construction that articulates images and alphabetical writing. The presentation will highlight lesser-known aspects of this articulation: the way in which the author of the Nueva Coronica uses alphabetic writing to design textile forms. This information, along with other allusions found in the text, help to better understand the complex conflicts and scriptural appropriations in the Andean world. Finally, the presentation will report on certain survivals of the colonial author's writing performance that, as relics, can be found in Andean ritual practices.
