Abstract
The present paper encompasses the necessity to answer the query about what gives narrative the category of the method by excellency at the moment of investigating the life and profession of those teachers who have earned the title of memorable. Biographic narrative is taken as the instrument to enrich self-reflection on the scholar memories not only of graduates but also of exceptional teachers of Universidad del Azuay, which becomes our unit of analysis. The sample is formed by former students who now teach at the institutions, as well as by co-workers and authorities of the period 1990-2010. If we compare the objectives of positivism with those of hermeneutics, it is clearly understandable how the interpretation of lived events enlightens the pedagogical processes which guided our memorable professors. The legitimacy of hermeneutics and narratives, of the categories of memorability, is shown in the educative field of some countries to be shared and extended to others.
