Abstract
Communication skills are viewed as the abilities and emotions that students develop in a sociocultural context. This research investigated and analyzed the communication skills developed by university students in the online Oral and Written Communication course. The historical-logical and analytical method was used to gather information from two academic periods of the COE course at the Salesian University, analyzing the "Reading Comprehension" category. The results indicate that students are unaware of the levels of comprehension in the development of activities, lack analysis of assignments, do not read the course support materials, and do not meet the minimum requirements for passing the course. It is concluded that students' participation in HC stems from mastery of reading comprehension levels as a fundamental skill in the personal and social development of university students.
