Abstract
University spaces are socially imagined, that is, societies build cultural heritages that become discourses and imaginaries that are put into practice (Hidalgo: 2018). The university is then, for many young people and university workers, a symbolic space that facilitates living conditions - due to the probability of access to paid jobs, improvement in social status, a space of recognition and links with peers - that provides knowledge and experiences to those who pursue a university career. This is the discourse that is maintained at a public level and that is institutionalized. However, in the universities of Quito little is said about motherhood, fatherhood and activities related to caring for others, despite the fact that it is part of the daily life of many young and young adult students and workers for whom reconciling their care responsibilities with studies and jobs is a challenge.
