Abstract

This publication gathers some research of the Management for Sustainable Local Development Career and the Political Ecology Research Group of the Salesian Polytechnic University on food sovereignty. In most cases, the researchers describe the situation in their own communities with first-hand information regarding the problems of agriculture, nutrition and access to food for the population. The problem of lack of food sovereignty in Ecuador is far from being solved; there are still many communities that have small land spaces that are not enough to cover their own food needs, others do not have enough water and others must produce to get everything to the market and cover their survival needs. This study eloquently visualized the complex panorama of food sovereignty in Andean communities in Ecuador.
