University radio in Ecuador has had little development, there have been several attempts to create university stations, but few have been successful. Ecuadorian universities have seen the radio as a place of practice for students, especially those in communication or social sciences, however they never gave it the true importance of having a means of communication that proposes its own agenda; that can generate content of great interest to the entire community and that does not depend on advertising or sponsorship from groups that may have interests or cause distortion in the messages, at the time of broadcast.
