Abstract
The proliferation of so-called “fake news” has generated a significant change in the ways of communicating and informing oneself in today’s societies, influencing points of view and, consequently, public opinion. This article presents a breakdown of elements that allow us to understand the “success” of fake news to generate public opinion and, on the other hand, it analyzes the consequences of the scope. To this end, the subject is approached from a semiotic analysis of the contents related to the national strike in Ecuador in October 2019.
