Abstract
The university-society nexus has been a topic of growing interest in recent decades, reflecting the need for effective collaboration between academic institutions and society at large to foster innovation and development in territorial spaces. The evolution of this link has been driven by a variety of factors, including changes in the structure of higher education, changing societal demands, and technological advances, such as artificial intelligence (AI). This critical analysis will examine how the university-society link has evolved, the ways in which this process is managed, and how the advent of artificial intelligence may contribute to increasing the dynamics of this process. The study is based on the use of literature review techniques that reinforce the author's critical position, taking as a basis in particular the existing literature sources in the Scopus database, and its quantitative analysis of results, which is complemented with publications edited by regional sources, basically indexed in the Scielo database and reports of prestigious organizations that operate in this field of action.
