Abstract
The aim of the research was to demonstrate how innovation in products and processes affects the competitiveness of ecuadorian metalworking export sector as a market raid of the Andean Community of Nations. The importance of innovation in export growth for companies in this sector, to generate products with high added value was determined: capturing and retaining market share, improving corporate profitability, allowing competing on price adapting to the tastes and preferences of customers and quality of new products. The methodology used in the research was to apply depth interviews with industry experts and apply a test called Wilcoxon test, which is useful to compare whether the distribution of a variable is equal to two groups and also to see if the variable is different these, based on sample data. This procedure allowed to know how innovation can significantly impact exports ecuadorian metalworking sector in its foray into the markets of the CAN to verify significant differences. The statistical sample consisted of taking ten companies in the metalworking sector whose production is sold in the countries of the Andean Community of Nations. Evidence found reaffirms proposed in the construct: a direct relationship on the key concepts for this research in relation to the innovation of products and processes in terms of exports to be more competitive and development.
