Abstract
This chapter reflects on the epistemological foundations in the Ecuadorian educational reality; to fulfill this purpose, it reflects on the cognitive links present in the teaching-learning process; it proposes some challenges of a procedural nature for the construction of knowledge in the classroom; it analyzes the understanding of current Ecuadorian educational knowledge to determine the impact of universal educational paradigms on the epistemological foundations of Ecuadorian education; reflects on the methodological strategies, pedagogical and didactic decisions that allow the development and construction of knowledge in the Ecuadorian context; finally, rethinks on the functionality of some fundamental categories such as axiological transversality, transdisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity in the Ecuadorian educational endeavor.
