Abstract
The research describes the political and ideologicalrepresentations disseminated in the 1317 Vistazo magazineedition of June 23, 2022 - in force for more than 60 years -about the social mobilizations and indigenous sectorscarried out in Ecuador in June 2022 that lasted for 18 days. The research objective is to describe, through the criticalanalysis of the discourse and content, the conditions ofproduction of a political and ideological nature in theeditorial line. The theoretical and methodologicalfoundation of the research is based on the assumptions ofcritical discourse analysis and analysis of the content of thenotes referring to social and indigenous mobilizations. Theresults of the investigation demonstrate the power of themedia by delegitimizing the social struggle and stigmatizingLeonidas Iza, president of the Confederation of IndigenousNationalities of Ecuador, CONAIE. Additionally, throughcontent analysis, quantitatively the journalistic position ofthe media in favor of sectors that from the exercise ofpower seek to form a public opinion in favor of thegovernment of President Guillermo Lasso. The AgendaSetting communication theory that contains framing andpriming marks the preference of the editorial line whenchoosing the content to be published in the generation ofcurrents of public opinion. In addition, Eliseo Verón'stheory of social discourses contributes to discourse analysisfrom the study of the conditions of political and ideologicalproduction in the social sphere beyond linguistics. Theproduction conditions demonstrate the political andideological position of the media.
