Abstract
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) play a crucial role in quality assurance in Higher Education; however, defining and measuring KPIs represents a challenge due to the wide variety of contexts, differences, and expectations that characterize Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This study aims to examine how KPIs are defined and controlled within the framework of business process management in Higher Education. To this end, this paper systematically reviews relevant literature to guide higher education administrators and further research. This work discusses the findings related to experiences, proposals, and outstanding issues that emerge from the literature review analysis.
