Abstract
For several decades now, Latin America has been working hard on ionizing radiation, both on direct ionizing radiation, such as positive and negative beta particles, alpha particles, protons, charged mesons, muons and heavy ions, as well as on indirect ionizing radiation (produced by particles without charges), such as those generated by photons with energies greater than 10 keV and neutrons. On the other hand, non-ionizing radiations have also been the subject of detailed studies, especially those coming from the Sun, as the most influential natural factor on Earth. This book presents some of the advances in which renowned Latin American scientists have participated, such as Dr. Héctor Vega Carrillo, Dr. Daniel Palacios, Dr. Patrizia Pereyra, Dr. Sheila Serrano, and Dr. Manuel Ernesto Delgado, among others. This book may be of interest to professionals in the areas of radiation protection, environmental engineering, atmospheric physics and related areas, as well as to students.
