Abstract
Currently, the relationship between digital competencies and soft skills is a basic characteristic for every professional who, through technological innovation, seeks to achieve greater competitive advantages in the professional field. In this sense, the responsibility of university institutions to develop these competencies and skills in young people is even more marked by the demands of the market that is continually forced to evolve due to technological changes in information and communication. Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine the relationship between digital competencies and soft skills of high school students from schools in zone 6 of Ecuador. To do this, the private educational units of the city of Cuenca and Azogues in the Province of Azuay and Cañar were taken as a sample, and a survey was applied that was validated through Cronbach's Alpha; Subsequently, the Spearman correlation statistic was applied, resulting in a moderate but significant positive relationship, which indicates that students know how to use technology in their interests related mainly to interacting through different digital platforms, contributing moderately to strengthening fundamental skills. such as solving problems and making decisions that are relevant in the workplace.
