Abstract
This article seeks to identify the importance of the subject Oral and Written Communication (OWC) in higher education studies and how the use of didactic tools enables interaction within the academic training process. The subject of communication, through the code that is written and spoken language, has undergone significant modifications in relation to virtuality/digitality as a medium for transmitting messages, evidently influencing the perceptions of the actors involved in this context. The present study is grounded in a review of previous research on this topic in the field of higher education. The methodological design used for this research involved a systematic review of the literature (Phase 1) of the project “Strengthening the Educational Proposal” of the Research Group on Communication, Education and Environment (GICEA) at the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS) of Cuenca, Ecuador. The findings of this study highlight the relevance of assertive communicative practices from the perspective of teachers, the impact of virtual platforms, and the importance of integrating project-based approaches in this area within the higher education environment.
