Abstract
Due to the high consumption of electrical energy that represents the use of a domestic refrigerator in homes, mainly due to one of its main parts such as the compressor, the need to analyze the thermodynamic behavior in order to know their operating conditions was established, so this article presents the results of the behavior of the pressure behavior at the outlet of the compressor and the temperature of the freezing compartment of a domestic refrigeration system, obtained based on the minute measurement of these variables during an operating period of 6 hours. This has been achieved through the instrumentation of a refrigerator/freezer of 234 liters total volume working with R134a refrigerant. In addition, the influence of the compressor on/off condition on the measured pressure and temperature variables has been analyzed. It has been verified that once the compressor is turned on, the freezer temperature drops to a minimum of -20.7°C in 90 minutes, the temperature at which the compressor is turned off. The average time for compressor restart is 7 min. As for the pressure values at the compressor outlet, a variation between 0.9 and 14.67 bar is observed, which are influenced by the on/off state of the compressor. Concluding that the energy consumption of the chiller is a direct function of the operating temperature range, thermal load and the frequency of opening and closing the doors of the chiller.
