Abstract
Happiness is undoubtedly one of the concepts most desired by human beings and, at the same time, one of the most complex to define and measure. It is not only an individual feeling, but also a social and economic phenomenon that reflects the well-being of a society as a whole. Throughout history, philosophers, Throughout history, philosophers, economists, sociologists, and psychologists have attempted to unravel the factors that determine it, giving rise to a multidisciplinary field ofstudy that is constantly evolving. In this context, the Socioeconomic Report on Happiness Spain 2024 is presented as a rigorous and systematic effort to analyze levels of happiness in the country and understand the factors that influence it. This report, developed by the International University Network on Happiness, not only collects statistical data, but also seeks to interpret reality from the perspective of subjective well-being. Based on an extensive compilation of data from the Sociological Research Center (CIS), multiple variables are analyzed, including sociodemographic, economic, political, and cultural factors that affect the perception of happiness in Spain. This comprehensive approach provides a detailed snapshot of how different segments of the population experience happiness based on their particular context and circumstances. One of the most relevant aspects of this study is its ability to identify trends over time. Thecomparison of happiness levels between 2020 and 2024 reveals the impact of economic, social, and political events on citizens' lives. From the uncertainty generated by economic crises to the role of digitalization and the transformation of the labor market, the report clearly shows how these factors shape the perception of well-being in Spanish society. It also provides an understanding of the role of public policies and social structure in creating environments more conducive to human flourishing.
