Abstract

The design and implementation of gender policies in Ecuador has been a long-standing process in a scenario of tensions and disputes. In this text we intend to give an account of its configurations during the government of the Citizen Revolution and the subsequent ideological and political rupture with this period of Morenoism. In the eyes of many, this rupture has meant the end of the Ecuadorian progressive project, once it has left aside some principles and initiatives that seemed to be the north of the Latin American socialism of the XXI century. We refer to the recovery of social spending, the overcoming of neo-liberalism, neo-state developmentalism, sovereign insertion in the international scenario and democratic innovation, among other elements pointed out by Franklin Ramirez.
