Abstract

Process optimization is a topic of significant relevance in the business world, since it has the potential to improve operating methods and reduce execution times. Consequently, the analysis of the current pre-operative process carried out in the clinic is a priority in order to improve its results and increase both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Based on the above, the main purpose of this research is to propose an improvement in the toric intraocular lens calculation procedure in the context of the pre-operative process of cataract surgery with toric intraocular lens implantation. This approach is specifically focused on the optometry field of the “Santa Lucia” clinic located in the city of Quito. Through the optimization of the method used to calculate the toric intraocular lens, the aim is to reduce both the operative time and the period necessary for the delivery of results by the optometrist, thus positively impacting the overall efficiency of the procedure.
