Abstract
The fuzzy logic algorithm was developed using multiple input/output sets to create a control system that provides improved performance in speed and opening control of a pump and a valve, respectively. This is compared to the plant's existing control systems, which are based on conventional PID control algorithms. With this proposed approach, a fuzzy algorithm was sought to achieve a better quality control system, providing a more effective rejection response to disturbances and satisfactory monitoring of the reference point. The drawbacks of applying fuzzy logic algorithms, along with their tuning strategy at different operating points, can be overcome by using fuzzy controllers that utilize rule sets based on experience gained at the plant being controlled. For testing, an analysis of both control approaches was conducted, and the tuning mechanisms were compared with each response to validate the results. Therefore, not only was the plant simulation achieved, but real-world data was also captured. The result was a fuzzy controller that allowed us to achieve a much more effective plant control strategy. Furthermore, an additional solution was found to extend the lifespan of the affected actuators, preventing abrupt spikes in their operation.
