Abstract

This article presents some of the activities developed for the implementation of a bicycle testing laboratory at the Salesian Polytechnical University, which has been the subject of an inter-institutional agreement with the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries (MPCEIP), with The purpose of execute physical and mechanical tests on different constitutive parts of bicycles manufactured, assembled, imported and marketed in Ecuador, in order to monitor compliance with the requirements established in the Ecuadorian Technical Regulations RTE INEN 046 and the corresponding standards. After having made an exhaustive review of the possible tests to make, the selection of machines, equipment and devices to execute the tests and having managed the necessary infrastructure and the organization in general, there is currently a laboratory implemented and operating in a normal way.
