Abstract
The use of liquefied petroleum gas for kitchens in Ecuador represents an economic problem for the National Government, because this resource is subsidized and also because of the CO 2 emissions that the use of this fuel causes. As a solution to this problem, the Government has proposed the progressive replacement of stoves that use LPG liquefied petroleum gas for electric induction stoves, since the year The objective of this work is to determine the main impacts of this measure on the production system of national electric power. As a result, the estimated demand load curve of the national electricity system is presented, from which important data can be obtained; the massive implementation of induction cookers would cause an additional energy consumption of 37% and an additional power demand in generation of approximately 73%; If the consumption for replacing domestic water heaters that work with LPG with electric heaters is added, the additional energy consumption would be 45% while the power demand would increase by 80%. It is concluded that the repowering of the electric power generation, transmission and distribution system is of the utmost importance and urgency, it becomes essential to increase the voltage to maintain the same calibers of current conductors, however the voltage transformation systems should be replaced. ; In addition, it is necessary to incorporate differentiated energy rates by hour, to modulate the load curve, minimizing the difference between maximum and minimum points.
