Impact Assessment of Equal-Sized Renewable DG Deployment on the Technical and Economic Performance of Active Distribution Networks

Abstract

The integration of renewable energy sources into active power distribution system presents a promising pathway to achieve cheap and sustainable electricity access for all. This paper presents a comprehensive techno-economic analysis of various renewable energy source primarily solar and wind. Key performance indicators such as Voltage Stability Index (VSI), total active power loss, voltage profile, and running cost are evaluated by performing load flow analysis. The work highlights the impact of integration of Distributed Generators (DGs) of same size in the system. The DGs of same sizes are chosen so that, the investment made by the customer is same for the type of DG at the distribution level. The results of the practical distribution system gives a in depth knowledge to the system planner in planning the reinforcements in the view of load growth and increased Electric Vehicle (EV) penetration.
