Abstract
The book Hidráulica y ambiente presents information related to the basics of hydroelectric dam design, methodology for the design of water conduction canals, and didactic examples applied to fresh water development and irrigation projects. In addition, the considerations to apply the methodology and design of potable water distribution systems, considering that these systems work under pressure, are indicated. The environmental problems and impacts of this type of construction are also discussed. In this sense, the environmental issue is initially addressed from a global and regional approach to determine local case studies in Latin America. Finally, the book presents two glossaries of terms; the first one is related to the design of hydraulic systems and the second one to environmental issues.
