Abstract

Comparing the performance of a machine with that of a human being in handling information is a complex matter. The first assertion that arises is that if such a machine possesses the accumulated knowledge of several or many human beings, it will gain significant advantages in processing large volumes of information. This superior knowledge storage capacity would translate into a notable advantage in providing faster responses. However (and as educators), a question emerges: is it possible to surpass this capacity of machines through reflection and action on knowledge from humanistic, altruistic, scientific, or philanthropic perspectives? The objective of this work is to explore, in a reflective and critical manner, the implications, strengths, risks, difficulties, and challenges of the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education. This exploration is grounded in the findings, conceptualizations, and reflections of authors involved in educational practice, within the framework of a literature review. This study proposes, theoretically and generally—without application to any specific educational level or context—, original content for reflection.
