Generation of Secure Passwords Through Microlearning Application

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

In an increasingly digitized world and with the growing threat of cyber-attacks, password security has become a critical concern. This research presents an innovative approach to improving password security through the application of microlearning with concrete recommendations on how to create secure passwords, including proper password length, character combination, and the importance of avoiding personal information or predictable patterns through three videos lasting less than two minutes each. These tips aim to empower users to understand and apply the fundamentals of secure passwords. An algorithm has been developed that allows users to create secure passwords. This algorithm prompts the user to enter an easy-to-remember phrase, four numbers and two signs, with which to create a password of at least 14 digits, taking two letters from each word in the phrase, the numbers and the signs, thus applying the principles of secure password generation. The goal is that users can effectively improve their existing passwords. In addition, it generates a hash of passwords for secure storage. Through the implementation of microlearning, a 100% understanding of the essential components of strong passwords, the importance of password complexity and the need for unique passwords for each account is demonstrated in the passwords generated by students and teachers in the research process. This approach empowers users to create more secure passwords systematically and with full understanding of best practices. This approach empowers users to create more secure passwords systematically and with full understanding of best practices, and the application achieved innovations in password generation such as generating random passwords to protect digital identities.
