Abstract
The key factors to promote the development of wind power generation in Ecuador are investigated by analyzing the local financial and economic conditions. It is determined if the non-conventional generation prices established in Ecuador for wind energy are attractive for a project of this type to be financially sustainable over time. The estimation is made using financial indexes such as the Net Present Value and the Internal Rate of Return. In addition, a sensitivity analysis is performed to determine how these indexes are modified when varying the price of energy, the plant factor or the discount rate, among others.
