Abstract
In the educational field, the teaching-learning process in various subjects represents one of the most important evaluation points. In the case of the subject of Social Studies, there is a complexity when it involves specific data with events from the past that mark the life of society. , precise and detailed knowledge of them being imperative. Within the Institution, poor understanding has been evident on the part of fifth-year students of basic general education, indicating a warning point for teachers, which is why the purpose of this study is to design teaching strategies through gamification for the teaching practice in teaching social studies. For this, a mixed method has been used where the research sample was 32 fifth-grade EGB students and 5 teachers from the Institution, to whom a survey and an interview were applied respectively. The results indicated that teachers show a lack of resources within the institution; however, they recognize that the implementation of a gamification strategy is a positive point for students and, in turn, they recognize the innovation it represents. Thus, a proposal was made based on 5 gamification activities that involve simulations, debates and other interactive activities. Concluding that gamification presents great potential in terms of the possibility of significantly improving the educational experience of students, encouraging their active involvement in class activities.
