Abstract
FROM GROOS OF PLAY CULTUREFor Karl Groos (1902), philosopher and psychologist; The game is the object of a special psychological investigation, being the first to confirm the role of the game as a phenomenon of development of thought and activity. It is based on Darwin's studies indicating that the species best adapted to changing environmental conditions survive. Therefore, play is a preparation for adult life and survival. For Groos, play is a pre-exercise of functions necessary for adult life, because it contributes to the development of functions and abilities that prepare the child to be able to carry out the activities he will carry out when he grows up. This thesis of functional anticipation sees play as a necessary preparatory exercise for maturation that is not reached until the end of childhood, and that in its opinion, “this serves precisely to play and prepare for life.”.
