Abstract
Fog computing is a multifaceted technology that allows Cloud Computing to extend to end users and brings storage, computing, control, and network functions closer to end users, objects, and sensors. This research aims to synthesize current knowledge, address open questions, and pave the way for future innovations by comprehensively understanding the requirements needed in the evolving Fog computing paradigm. The researchers conducted Kitchenham's guidelines to conduct a systematic review and answer three research questions. First, the authors examine the current research directions in Architecture Fog computing. As a result, Fog computing needs a standard for early defining the system's logical components, interfaces, workflow, and data flow. Second, we describe the Fog computing business models to reflect that the main challenge of pricing schemes is developing different scenarios based on standard Fog computing business models to set prices for network resources, computing resources, and architectural trade-offs. Finally, the main research developments are integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning and security and privacy in different FC layers.
