Abstract

the Research Group in Philosophy of Education (GIFE) ispleased to present the text Genealogy of the Family, which is due to the investigative, reflective and purposeful effort of a total of 25 authorsthat from different geographical areas try to respond to situations andunique contexts about the subject. The book is made up of seventeen chapters divided into two volumes entitled:Volume 1: Philosophical, psychological, political and sociological conceptions, made up of nine chapters that rethink some conceptions,approaches, theoretical references and perspectives on the family in historyof human thought. Volume 2: Family, education and society as a dialectical unit,composed of eight chapters that address, among other aspects: the purposesfamily social; the family, society and state relationship; the incidenceof the family in education, in decision-making, in the choice ofa professional career, in personal development, in learning; on theconstruction of the social image, in the perception of sexist language; etc. Thus, in volume 1, the following documents stand out:The family from a rereading of Aristotle's politics, elaboratedby Pablo Andrés Heredia and Catya Ximena Torres Cordero, in whichpresents an analysis of the work of Aristotle in order to establishdifferences between classical and modern perceptions of thefamily; In turn, the authors propose to recognize the relevance of the family in the construction of society and the State based on the analysis oftwo works of contemporary political philosophy: The human condition ofHannah Arendt (1993) and Giorgio Agamben's Homo Sacer (1998); playswhich according to the authors take up, extend the Aristotelian thoughtand establish a series of guidelines to understand the place of the familyin the public realm.
