Abstract
The identity of a higher education institution is marked by the series of circumstances that led to its creation, the people who were protagonists in its development, and the events that forged its unique character among higher education institutions in their region or country. Investigating, analyzing and preserving its past is essential for a university to maintain its identity and institutional integrity. Preserving history gives future generations of students, faculty, staff, and graduates a deeper understanding and appreciation of the values, traditions, and achievements of these works, and ensures that the flame that fueled their origin and development does not goes extinct, but helps you face new challenges and move towards new horizons. This book is the effort of a team of eight teachers who belong to five Salesian Institutions of Higher Education in Latin America, which are part of the World Network of Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS): Universidad Salesiana de México–UNISAL, Universidad Don Bosco of El Salvador, Silva Henríquez Catholic University of Chile, Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador and Salesian University of Bolivia.
