Abstract

The research on study habits focuses on cognitive theory within the framework of Educational Psychology, which considers the main axis of learning content and the mental processes that contribute to it. Academic stress is a state of worry or mental tension that is generated as a natural response mechanism to an external stimulus or a perceived threat that affects people's well-being. In the present research, the correlation between study habits and academic stress is analyzed in the field of university students in the last semester of the Psychology Degree at a University of Quito, in the period January-July 2024. A cross-sectional, exploratory and correlational study is carried out on a non-probabilistic sample that was made up of 122 students. The data are collected in May 2024, using two types of research instruments: the Casm – 85 Inventory for study habits by Vicuña Peri (2014) and the Sisco Inventory by Barraza Macías (2009). It is concluded that there is a significant negative correlation of medium intensity between Academic Stress and Study Habits in the students investigated.
