Abstract
This paper presents the results of the long - term analysis of the energy security index (ESI) of Ecuador's electric energy production system using the methodology of System Dynamics. Building on the structure proposed by the World Energy Council (WEC); a model is built to simulate the main energy security indicators such as security of supply, resilience and access to electricity. The results of the simulation show that by 2050; in an optimistic scenario, the energy security index will reach a value of 0.73, representing an increase of 10.4% over the value of the current scenario.
